Hail storm during dog walk

So itsa国际传媒 that time of year again when we get the surprise downpour or a hail storm just to make sure we are paying attention. Itsa国际传媒 all part of life and of course part of the season. It could be sunny, or it may rain, or the hail may come racing in just to keep you on your toes.
Now I could just stay inside for a month until winter finally sets in, or I can think of some alternate ideas just in case we get caught unaware. I find that is the biggest question for me and my buddy.

I really do consider where I am walking and what weather is being dished out at the moment I choose to go for a walk. I know, itsa国际传媒 simple to say just look up, but things can change so fast depending on how the wind blows. 听

Dogs don鈥檛 look up very well, and I guess I am just as negligent and at times don鈥檛 seem to look up like I should either.听 When the weather comes down all around us, to the dog, itsa国际传媒 my fault it happened and itsa国际传媒 my duty to make things right or safe.

I find that when things turn on me, I look around and try to choose a comfortable place to wait things out. That may be a beautiful large tree that for some reason is thick enough not to let those raindrops that are coming down in buckets get to me.听 If possible, when it is a bit obvious that some kind of inclement weather is going to dampen my spirits.

I will tend to walk on main street, knowing that the businesses are friendly and helpful and will offer both of us safe harbour until the weather breaks.听 I have discovered that in Penticton that is usually not a very long time before we can continue on our way. 听

I have been caught in a hail storm like the other day and the choice was a bit more rushed and desperate. For the two of us it was a large and well covered front step on a house that was the best place to hide from the hail.

The owner saw us standing outside their door. I think most people have security cameras at their front door. The owner at first talked to us through the door as I called out to them that we were hiding from the hail and would be grateful for a reprieve and the enjoyment of their stoop until the hail let up.

They opened the door and offered us a smile and a greeting and said we were welcome to their safe haven of a porch until the storm passed. Pearl was very pleased and could not quite figure out why we just sat there on the step watching the hail. But I think for her, because we were not standing in the hail being hit, everything was all right in her world.

And I have to say; it was a nice front porch.

I am sure there will be other times when we will get a big surprise on our walks. Sometimes I have found that I have not dressed well enough for the wind and I need to follow a path that has less wind and more sun.

There will be times when there might be too much ice and the two of us will have trouble navigating. It might be rain, a surprise hail storm, or maybe even some sleet that makes everything wet and slippery and our walk will be shortened or make us change our route.

But all in all, I am the one who has the most trouble with the changing elements and deciding how to safely navigate them.

But for Pearl, she follows me. So I have to be very careful of that hail. It can really ruin a dogsa国际传媒 day.
