A controlled burn of approximately 100 piles will be conducted in The Lakes subdivision will last through early November.聽
鈥淪taff from the BC Wildfire Service will carefully prepare, control, and monitor these fires. Smoke and/or flames may be visible from Lake Country and surrounding areas,鈥 a release states.聽
Pile burning of dead wood and brush helps reduce the risk of future forest fires. The exact timing of the controlled burns, which could start as early as Monday, will depend on the site, weather, venting, and moisture conditions.聽
