TAILYOUR LANE
Despite its proximity to residential neighborhoods, this lot is actually part of the Highway 97 corridor through Peachland. The town hopes to obtain title to the lot, sized at two-tenths of an acre, and eventually sell it to a homebuilder. It would be worth about $400,000 at current market rates.

A new lot could be developed on an unusually-named dead-end road in Peachland.

Town council will consider a plan next week to remove a highway dedication from the end of Tailyour Lane on the north side of Peachland. If all goes according to plan, the municipality would eventually gain title to the property and sell it to a homebuilder.

It would be a noisy lot, however, as it buts up right against Highway 97. As to the roadsa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ name, though it may appear to be a misspelling of ‘Taylor’, three people whose last name was Tailyour are buried in the town cemetery. They were all born in the 1880s, and the most recent burial of a Tailyour was in 1969.

Only one of every 383 million people on earth have Tailyour as a last name, according to the genealogy website Forebears.io

So there would be about 21 Tailyours out there, somewhere.

Historically, the name is said to have occurred most commonly in Scotland.Â
