Everything is broken 2.0
Dear Editor:
On March 9, with 85.9% of the vote, Mark Carney became the new Liberal party leader and prime minister-designate. On March 14 he was sworn in as the 24th Prime Minister of Canada by the Governor General.
Carney brings years of both domestic and global financial experience to the table.
What does Conservative party leader Pierre Poilievre bring to the table? Being a career politician for 21 years; the only thing he knows is politicking and attacking.
But Poilievresa国际传媒 trifecta nightmare has come true:
1. Justin Trudeau stepping down as Liberal leader
2. U.S. President Donald Trump stepping up his threats of tariffs on Canadian products
3. Mark Carney winning the Liberal leadership race
On Feb. 14, Carney posted an ad on X, directed squarely at Poilievre: 鈥淗ow can you speak for Canada when you think Canada is broken?鈥
Daniel Lanois, the highly-acclaimed record producer and singer-songwriter based in Hamilton, produced Bob Dylansa国际传媒 1989 album, Oh Mercy, hailed by critics as a triumph.
The third track is 鈥淓verything Is Broken鈥. What follows are some slightly reworked lyrics for these times:
Everything Is Broken 2.0
(Official Pierre Poilievre Version)
(with apologies to Bob Dylan)
Broken country, broken tax
Broken health care, broken backs
Broken borders, broken flags
People sleeping on top of rags
Ain鈥檛 no use jivin鈥, ain鈥檛 no use jokin鈥
Everything is broken
Broken justice, broken bail
Broken system, broken jails
Broken promise, broken bones
Broken CBC in all time zones
Take a deep breath, climate action got me chokin鈥
Everything is broken
Seem like every time I stop and turn around
Another Sir John A. statue hits the ground
Broken budget, broken laws
Broken housing, broken saws
Broken lives, broken rents
All the cities with broken tents
Reconciliation should never be spoken
Everything is broken
Every time I go to check on the race
That Mark Carney is in first place
Broken prices at broken stores
Broken ethics, broken wars
Broken glasses, broken tools
A security clearance is for fools
Cons have spoken, Skippy not jokin鈥
Everything is broken

Letsa国际传媒 all say no to Musk buckets
Dear Editor:
We get precious few opportunities, as British Columbiasa国际传媒 and Canadians, to do something as individuals that might function for our collective good. Politically we have been railroaded and abused so often and forcefully you have to wonder if there is such a 鈥渢hing鈥 as the public in governments鈥 workbook.
But this might be a chance for those contemplating a car purchase or lease renewal. Don鈥檛 go near a Musk bucket, in some places known as a Tesla. Say no to jack boot Musk and his bucket of bolts.
Now, I don鈥檛 advise vandalizing those you see on the street, but say no to more of them. No more on our streets!
I know many who have one today are misguided, thinking that are helping the country cut greenhouse gas emissions. Ha! Trudeau made a mockery of that with his destructive immigration policies. If every Canadian drove a musk bucket it would barely dent the skyrocketing emissions fueled by force feeding the country with migrants.
Further, if you insist, why aren鈥檛 vehicles built by Xpeng in China being sold here? People that know better than I say they are far superior! And. Imagine, they cost only half of what a Musk bucket does. Well, thank Trudeau and the Liberals for that too.
They鈥檝e really been watching out for us, haven鈥檛 they.
Now we have a chance to have a say. Say no to musk buckets.

Poilievre is wrong in so many way
Dear Editor:
I guess one has only to look back over the past couple of years since Poilievre became leader of the conservative party to easily see where he is trying to take this country of ours.
In fact, all a person has to do is read between the lines and to listen closely to what he says. Yes, listen closely, because it is the regurgitation of the same old thing for the past two years. Each and every time Poilievre opens his mouth it is Trudeau is the cause of inflation, or Trudeau caused housing prices to rise or he caused high grocery prices.
What he seems not to understand is the whole world was and is in a turmoil not of his choosing nor doing. But, Poilievre blames the worlds woes on Trudeau.
This guy has been fixated on Trudeau for a very long time which is evident as we have seen him change to new hair, rolled up sleeves, no glasses and a strolling walk just like Trudeau.
As we now enter a new era where trump is and will continue to create uncertainty in our lives, we do need a person who understands the problems at hand, who has dealt with not only the financial crisis in 2008 / 10 in Canada, but was at least a year ahead of any other country to avert a Canadian financial melt-down. Leaving Canada to take over the Bank of England from 2013 / 20, Mr. Carneysa国际传媒 guidance was able to bring financial stability to the EU during Brexit.
If we are to weather the idiosyncrasies of a deranged sick individual who through his ignorance, has created havoc the world over, we need a leader with a sound mind who is well equipped to deal with the daily problems that will be part of the future of Canada.
We do not need someone like Poilievre who is like a child, name calling and making sarcastic spiteful and unkind remarks each and every time he opens his mouth and has a camera on him thinking he is smart. The fabrications he spouts out daily are so harmful to everyone in Canada.
For this guy has been feeding out of the public trough for his 20 some odd years, and has never had a real job or been in the real working world. Is this really the person Canada needs to steer us through these turbulent times? I don鈥檛 think so.
Give yourselves the opportunity to do some simple research and you will, I鈥檓 sure, find very quickly who is the best and better person to take Canada forward.

An Aha moment and not the band
Dear Editor:
As I watched the coronation of Mark Carney as Liberal leader and our PM without a mandate from Canadians, I wondered when lying became OK for Liberal supporters and Canadian in general.
During the leadership campaign, Carney was caught lying at least five times and while a few of the lies made the one-day news cycle, most were ignored, and he was crowned as leader. During the Trudeau Liberals nine-year rein of terror on Canadasa国际传媒 economy and social fabric, Trudeau, himself was caught red handed in many lies as were many of his ministers, like Mendicino, Miller, Blair, Boissonault, Ng and too many more to mention.
Ironically, many of those same ministers lined up behind Carney. I also wonder, why in election advertising by party or affiliated group, itsa国际传媒 OK to lie. The H.E.U. is running a TV ad claiming that a Poilievre government with cut back on doctors and nurses and make health care a user pay, U.S. style health care system. Thatsa国际传媒 a lie. No Canadian government, Conservative or otherwise will do that. Why? Because Canadian would run them out of office. The mysterious group 鈥淧rotecting Canada鈥 who will not name one individual or group that funds their million-dollar budget, claims that Poilievre will sell out Canada to the U.S..
Thatsa国际传媒 a lie. Liberal advertising, tells us that the Conservatives will erase the border, and that Pierre Poilievre is just like Trump.
Aside from both having conservative values, thatsa国际传媒 a lie. When the Liberal leadership candidates, in responding to Trumpsa国际传媒 tariff threats suddenly became fans of pipelines to sell our oil and gas abroad, while shutting them down for the past 10 years, thatsa国际传媒 a lie.
At least Mark Carney, didn鈥檛 outright lie when he said he will invest in 鈥渆nergy projects鈥 because, at no time did, he mention pipelines or oil and gas because as a climate zealot, he meant the green energy that he is heavily invested in. I love my country, and I am tired of the lies. You should be too! I believe Poilievre and the Conservatives are telling the truth and expect them to stop the cycle of lies and I will hold them to it.

Ebysa国际传媒 grab for dictatorial power
Dear Editor:
David Ebysa国际传媒 desperate grasp for dictatorial power and control is highly reminiscent of Trudeausa国际传媒 own similar grasp five years ago鈥攁nd equally unconstitutional and transparent.
This must be rejected. Full stop!
The old adage, 鈥渋f an emergency requires dictatorial power to deal with it, political leaders will always find, or create, an 鈥渆mergency鈥欌 seems to be at play. No democracy should tolerate this unless by unanimous consent of those governed.
And then only for a clearly defined period or circumstance.

Risk is too great to vote for Tories
Dear Editor:
Having lived in Alberta a good chunk of my life, I came away with Conservative leanings. Now that is about to change and only because of the disastrous Conservative-Republican destruction of democratic norms south of us. It is unfathomable what they are doing to their country as we witness history repeating.
Don鈥檛 feel we can take the gamble of Conservative leadership in this country when there is a hazard of them cozying up to the lost souls down south. It angers me to no end to change sides, but when you see Albertasa国际传媒 Danielle Smith sucking up to Trump and Poilievresa国际传媒 acerbic style and support of harebrained causes such as 鈥淔reedom Convoys鈥, the risk is too great.
Unfortunately, the corrupt administration of our neighbours is impacting all us one way or another.

Call him by his proper title
Dear Editor:
Now that we have a new prime minister of Canada, I would like to see him not engage in any way with the administration in the United States, until and unless he is referred to by his correct title.
