BRUSSELS (AP) 鈥 The European Parliament website was affected because of a hacking attack Wednesday, officials said.

European Parliament spokesman Jaume Duch said the website 鈥渋s currently impacted from outside due to high levels of external network traffic.鈥 He added that 鈥渢his traffic is related to a DDOS attack (Distributed Denial of Service) event.鈥

Technical teams are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

The website was unreachable in many places only hours after the legislature overwhelmingly backed a resolution calling Russia a state sponsor of terrorism for its invasion of, and actions in, Ukraine.

It was unclear whether the attack on the website was linked with the vote.

In a lopsided 494-58 vote with 48 abstentions Wednesday, the EU legislature sought to increase pressure on Moscow to bring anyone responsible for war crimes committed from the Feb. 24 start of the invasion before an international court.
