East Coast music at its finest while Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy are in the Okanagan.
The Juno-winning husband-and-wife are bringing their Four on the Floor Tour to the valley. Joining them on stage will be their two oldest children, Mary Frances and Micheal Leahy.
鈥淚tsa国际传媒 great to watch them bloom, but also great to see them affect what I do 鈥 they impact my musicality greatly,鈥 MacMaster said in a phone interview.
She says her eldest daughter is one of her favourite musical partner. 鈥淢ary Frances is so creative 鈥 I get really motivated when I try ideas with her, she always has something to add.鈥
Music runs in their blood.
鈥淎 lot of that in my genealogy, at family gatherings there would always be live music,鈥 MacMaster said, adding that the late fiddler Willie Kennedy once partied at her house.
鈥淚 grew up in the thick of it.鈥
She also attributes her love of music to her momsa国际传媒 cassette collection.
鈥淲henever we took a trip to town, she鈥檇 crank the tunes.鈥
Relaying the authenticity of East Coast music has always been second nature for MacMaster.
鈥淚t comes from a real place 鈥 itsa国际传媒 ancient music, and itsa国际传媒 going to be here forever.鈥
MacMaster has a total of nine kids, and says being a busy mom makes her even more ambitious as an artist.
鈥淎t home making meals, driving kids around 鈥 maybe that fuels some kind of creativity in me, I feel like I have more energy.鈥
But shesa国际传媒 only one person.
鈥淭heresa国际传媒 not enough time in my entire lifetime to quench my thirst for all the new material, ideas, collaborations, and arrangements I want to do.鈥
