The Penticton Indian Band Emergency Management Department is advising the public of a landslide that has occurred in the Trout Creek area, near the Summerland Golf and Country Club. Due to unstable terrain and significant safety risks, we strongly urge all community members and the general public to avoid this area.
According to a Saturday press release, geotechnical assessments have confirmed that the risk of additional landslides remains high, along with the potential for downstream flooding.
"For your safety and the safety of others, please stay clear of the affected area until further notice. Our PIB Emergency Operations Centre and other agencies will continue to monitor the situation (RDOS, Summerland Municipality, Okanagan Nation Alliance and Ministry of Transportation) on a regular basis," spokesperson Lesley Gabriel said in a statement.
