Considered by many to be the kickoff to summer, the 23rd Annual World of Wheels attracted up to 15,000 people to Peachland Sunday, with smiling crowds eager to get out in the sunshine and take in the 500 classic vehicles that lined Beach Avenue and filled Heritage and Cousins Parks.

鈥淚 think itsa国际传媒 the best show that I鈥檝e seen for weather cooperating, people cooperating,鈥 said Pam Cunningham with World of Wheels.

Cunningham reported it was so busy two of the food trucks ran out of food before the event ended.

Entries to the show filled quickly with Beach Avenue outside of the World of Wheels area looking like a car show of its own, lined with classic cars turned away from the at-capacity show.

Cunningham noted there were about 40 fewer parking spots for exhibitors this year because of the splash park in Heritage Park and the extra-large patios going out in the street at some downtown restaurants.

World of Wheels is an opportunity for people to take a nostalgic walk down memory lane, remembering cars of their past and gives car fans a chance to get out and chat with other automobile enthusiasts

After the show being cancelled for two years because of COVID-19, Dale Mager and Bob Kyle were happy to be out in the sunshine drooling over the classic cars.

Randy Barton of Cruising the Okanagan, a hub for car clubs, said that while COVID-19 had given rise to smaller car cruises, it was awesome to be back at one of the first big car shows of the season.

Along with cars on display, there were also vendors, food trucks, live music and bouncy castles for kids.
